Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 September 2026.
This policy explains how Trusted Tradies handles personal information submitted through this website. We aim to follow New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
What we collect
We collect information needed to register launch interest, review listings, verify claims, respond to enquiries, and maintain directory accuracy. This may include names, work contact details, business details, trades, service areas, source and consent records, and verification evidence. Registering interest does not create a public listing. We do not ask for payment-card details through this website.
Sourced records and owner accounts
We may obtain business details from owner submissions, licensed datasets or permitted public sources. We record sourcing permission, field-level provenance, and our indirect-collection notice assessment. You can ask where information came from and request correction or removal. For owner management, ChatGPT sign-in provides a stable account identifier, name and account email. Access grants, claims, proposed changes and reviewer decisions are stored privately. Business authority is independently reviewed; signing in does not verify a business. Authentication may use necessary session cookies provided by the sign-in service.
How we use it
We use information to contact businesses about the launch, assess and publish business profiles, confirm authority to manage a profile, record completed checks, contact submitters, investigate corrections or removals, and operate the directory. We do not sell personal information or use it for unrelated marketing without permission.
Publication and sharing
Launch-interest details remain private. If a business later provides full listing information and is approved, profile details such as its name, services, service areas, business phone, business email, website, and completed verification signals may be published. Private review notes and evidence are not published. Information may be processed by service providers that host the site, database, email delivery, or automated abuse protection, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Automated abuse protection
Public forms use automated checks to reduce spam and misuse. We create keyed, one-way hashes from limited network and browser identifiers for rate limiting and duplicate detection; raw IP addresses are not stored in the form security log. These security events are automatically deleted after 30 days. Where enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile may process technical information needed to distinguish legitimate interaction from automated abuse.
Retention and security
We keep information only while it is needed for the purpose collected, legal obligations, dispute handling, or an accurate audit trail. Form security events are retained for up to 30 days. Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, but no online service can promise absolute security.
Access, correction, and removal
You may request access to or correction of personal information about you, withdraw launch interest, or ask for a business profile to be corrected or removed, through the contact page. We may retain a minimal record where reasonably required to document the request and outcome.
Cookies and analytics
The launch site does not use advertising cookies. If privacy-impacting analytics or marketing tools are introduced, this policy and any consent controls will be updated first.
Contact
Use the contact page for privacy requests or complaints. If a concern is not resolved, you can contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
This policy is operational guidance for launch and should be reviewed by a New Zealand lawyer once the operating entity and official contact details are confirmed.
